Es la coordinadora de Educación y Desarrollo Comunitario de Esperanza, organización que busca construir una comunidad de oportunidad en donde todos aspiran a vivir. Desde 2014 ha estado liderando las porciones de desarrollo comunitario del Plan Estratégico de Hunting Park 2022, entre cuyas metas estaba proteger y mejorar los espacios abiertos y el medio ambiente.
Para incrementar el conocimiento ambiental en el vecindario, Gabriella movilizó a los residentes para sembrar árboles en su patio y en las aceras, participar en limpiezas del barrio, y reciclar.
Gabriella ha contribuido a que la ciudad de Filadelfia ofrezca sus recursos ambientales en dos idiomas: inglés y español. Gracias a su activismo, la Sociedad Horticultural de Pensilvania (PHS) desarrolló el primer entrenamiento bilingüe de Cuidadores de Árboles de su historia.
Su trabajo ha sido reconocido con múltiples premios, incluido Activista del Año por Green Philly, Estrella Naciente por PACDC, Forest of Fame por TreePhilly, Premio de Mérito por PHS, y 40 debajo de 40 del periódico Al Día.
Gabriella es orgullosamente dominicana y posee una licenciatura en Ciencias de la Universidad de Eastern y una maestría en Manejo de ONG de la Escuela de Política Social y Práctica de la Universidad de Pensilvania.
Gabriella is the Coordinator of Education and Community Development at Esperanza, an organization dedicated to building a community of opportunity where everyone aspires to live. Since 2014, she has led the community development components of the Hunting Park 2022 Strategic Plan, which aims to protect and improve open spaces and the environment.
To increase environmental awareness in the neighborhood, Gabriella mobilized residents to plant trees in their yards and along sidewalks, participate in neighborhood cleanups, and recycle.
Gabriella has helped ensure that the City of Philadelphia offers its environmental resources in both English and Spanish. Thanks to her activism, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) developed its first-ever bilingual Tree Tenders training.
Her work has earned multiple awards, including Activist of the Year by Green Philly, Rising Star by PACDC, Forest of Fame by TreePhilly, Award of Merit by PHS, and Al Día’s 40 Under 40.
Gabriella is proudly Dominican and holds a bachelor’s degree in Science from Eastern University and a master’s degree in NGO Management from the School of Social Policy & Practice at the University of Pennsylvania.
