Venezuelan expressions at Esperanza
Luego de 5 años regresa con el programa cultural que resalta el talento; Venezuelan Expressions 2022 contará con la participación del prestigioso flautista venezolano nominado a los premios Grammy, Huáscar Barradas, unido a la multifacética y también nominada a los Grammy Latino, MV Caldera, junto al percusionista Robert Quintero. Una Camerata especial de ArcoNet con maestros, estudiantes, exalumnos, acompañados por Luigi Mazzocchi, violín (Philadelphia Ballet Concermaster), Adriana Linares, Viola (Dalí Quartet and Arconet Director), Carlos Rubio, violín (Dalí Quartet and West Chester University Faculty) y Mary Javian (Curtis Institute of Music Faculty). Chrysanthemum Festival at Longwood Gardens
Chrysanthemums bloom in early autumn, adding beautiful bursts of color to Philadelphia’s countryside. This annual celebration of fall’s favorite flower transforms the conservancy at Longwood Gardens into a living work of art. Outdoors, the family-favorite Garden Railway adds a whimsical touch to the season with dozens of miniature locomotives making their way through a multi-level display. Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink will open on November 4. It’s a winter wonderland in the shadow of City Hall. Glide around the ice rink, warm up with a hot beverage and grab some seasonal snacks — all set against a very festive backdrop. Reservations are encouraged for timed, 90-minute skating sessions. From Home to Headquarters exhibit
The Peter Wentz Farmstead is pleased to announce the opening of its brand-new exhibit, “From Home to Headquarters: Washington in Worcester”. Visitors are invited to go back in time to October of 1777 when the Peter Wentz Farmstead was transformed from a family home to the military headquarters of General George Washington and his wartime military family. The exhibit features a detailed re-creation of the first-floor rooms used by Washington and his military staff to run the Continental Army during his stay. Learn about the troops’ movements in Montgomery County as part of the Philadelphia Campaign and the effects their presence had on residents like the Wentz family. Landsdale, through November 29.
Asian American Film Festival
The largest East Coast film festival of its kind celebrates and showcases the stories of Asians and Pacific Islanders in film, performance art, music and other creative expressions during its 11-day run. Museum of Art Craft Show
Museum-quality handmade jewelry, textiles and mixed media are on display and for sale during this juried show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Throughout the show, nearly 200 artists from around the world are joined by student artists from Philadelphia-area universities to exhibit their work, which is judged in 13 distinct categories. This annual festival presents films and programs that appeal to diverse communities and encourage understanding across racial, economic and religious divides.
