Every day in the coming weeks is precious

These days are not only important for the presidential elections but also for the Senate, Congress and some other state offices.

State parties and candidates analyze the presidential elections with the hope of making progress or to see if damaging information has been uncovered against the opposition that could help discredit the candidates.

Campaigns need to show to their donors that they have a chance to win. Contributors do not donate to campaigns that do not have a path to victory.

Before President Biden removed himself, what was left of the Republican Party felt more comfortable knowing that, although Trump was a flawed candidate, Biden was a weak opponent who could be easily defeated given that the loyal MAGA base would carry his victory home.

Now, with the Kamala/Walz campaign in full swing, the national race has drastically changed. This new Democratic formula is having fun, filling rallies with super-enthusiastic supporters, and getting a ton of media coverage. Meanwhile, the Trump and Vance campaign is faltering and not demonstrating an effective strategy. At the same time, Kamala and Walz smile and laugh while Trump and Vance have bitter faces and apocalyptic predictions.

Within the Republican Party, leaders are publicly asking Trump to stop complaining, stop making racial attacks, and stop repeating lies and stories about events that never happened.

Online, there are more images of cats or their owners voting for Harris, and the incredible and absurd story of Trump talking about ship batteries and sharks, then lying about the number of people attending Harris rallies, reporting that a helicopter was almost involved in a tragedy, not remembering who was or was not on that trip, and stating that there was no problem with the flight. And on top of that, Trump recently insulted a major donor and, even worse, insulted the winners of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

And now it seems that the so-called third-party candidacy of Robert Kennedy Jr. is losing momentum and support.

Republicans are worried and are asking Trump to stick to talking about policies and not making personal attacks. Meanwhile, Harris presents her economic and political plans. Voters deserve to analyze these proposals when making their decisions.

And one question that arises is: Can the Harris/Walz campaign maintain its current level of enthusiasm?

Another important issue on the horizon is abortion, which is on the ballot in several states. While there is a large group of voters who support reproductive rights, it is not clear that these same voters will also vote for down-ballot candidates who are strong on this issue. Eight states will have this issue on their November ballots, including key states like Nevada and Arizona.

The state of the economy also needs to be addressed in a way that makes sense to voters. Some politicians are determined to make the border, immigration, and crime rates their key issues, and some voters seem to buy into this attack, even though the facts don’t support this narrative. However, many media outlets fail to fact-check these politicians and continue to publish this biased information.

Independents, young people, women, racialized individuals, and other segments will be looking for some hope and future solutions from these candidates, and their campaigns must do serious outreach work.

The Democratic National Convention is starting today, and the energy it may or may not generate will be noticeable. But will the convention give Democrats a positive boost?

It seems there will be many groups raising their concerns through protests at this convention, and it will be interesting to see how the police handle these important expressions of free speech.

Money is also continuing to flow, and you can see which states are in dispute just by looking at the funds spent on advertising and field activities in those key states.

A few weeks ago, the Trump campaign was comfortable and leading in enough key states to secure a victory, but now the tide has turned, and the Harris campaign has the wind at its back.

There are still a few weeks left before November 5th, and both campaigns must keep their foot on the gas and show undecided voters why they should vote for them.

Just remember that polls have been wrong in the past, and the only poll numbers that will decide the outcome are those from individuals who actually vote.

And that is why we must not only vote but also ensure that all our family members and acquaintances vote as well.
