During the 2024 Grammy Awards, the “End Game” singer made a surprise announcement.
Taylor Swift is back on the road with her Eras tour as boyfriend Travis Kelce gets ready for another Super Bowl appearance on Feb. 11th.
Swift is slated to perform four consecutive nights in Tokyo, finishing just before Super Bowl LVIII.
Taylor won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards for “Midnights,” breaking the record for most wins in the category with four.
A welcome surprise was the inclusion of Celine Dion, who handed Swift her record-breaking trophy. “When I say I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart,” she told the audience.
Taylor began her speech by thanking her producer and friend Jack Antonoff and adding, “I would love to tell you this is the happiest moment of my life. » She told the crowd that she feels this happy when she creates music and plays shows.
Earlier in the night, Taylor Swift used her 13th Grammy win on Sunday to announce her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” will arrive on April 19.
“I know that the way that the Recording Academy voted is a direct reflection of the passion of the fans,” she said while accepting the Best Pop Vocal Album award. “So, I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years.»
The news came just hours after Swift sent fans into a frenzy by changing her social media profile pictures to black and white, making many Swifties believe she was set to announce her re-recording of Reputation (Taylor’s Version). Her website also went down shortly before the Grammys ceremony, with a mysterious error code that included the text hneriergrd, which fans deciphered to mean “red herring.”
Swift kicked off the Tokyo leg of her Eras tour. “I’ve been working on Tortured Poets since right after I turned in Midnights,” Swift told the crowd on Wednesday in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter).
She added, “I’ve been working on it for about two years. I kept working on it throughout the U.S. tour, and when it was perfect — in my opinion, when it was good enough for you — I finished it, and I am so excited that soon you’ll get to hear it.”
According to Swift’s website, the new album will feature 16 songs, including one bonus track titled “The Manuscript.”
Shortly after announcing the album on her socials, Swift made the album available for preorder on her website. There will be several versions of the album available for purchase, including a CD, cassette, vinyl and digital album. The day after the album’s announcement, Swift unveiled the official tracklist for the album, which has caused many Swifties to theorize about the titles.
Side A includes “Fortnight,» “The Tortured Poets Department,” “My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys,” and “Down Bad.” The songs on Side B are “So Long, London,” “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Fresh Out the Slammer,” and “Florida!!!.”
