Reading, PA – Senator Bob Casey continued to solidify his support among Pennsylvania’s Latino communities as he joined the Latinos for Casey coalition at Mi Casa Su Casa Cafe in Reading. Surrounded by community leaders and supporters, Casey emphasized his commitment to protecting key rights and addressing economic issues as he seeks another term in the U.S. Senate.
«I’m running because I want to continue to deliver for the people of our commonwealth so that we can make progress,» Casey said to a crowd that included many local Latinos. The event was organized by the Latinos for Casey coalition, and State Representative Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz, who owns the cafe, helped ensure that every attendee could participate by translating the program into Spanish.
Casey focused his remarks on the future, asserting that this election is about advancing rights and fighting for the well-being of Pennsylvania families. «This election isn’t about what I’ve done, but what we need to do moving forward,» he said.
The senator highlighted his priorities, including protecting women’s reproductive rights, expanding voting rights through the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, and advocating for workers’ rights to unionize and secure better wages and benefits.
Addressing the economic challenges many are facing, Casey also vowed to tackle «greedflation,» a term he uses to describe corporations inflating prices to maximize profits at the expense of consumers. He reiterated his dedication to lowering prescription drug costs, a critical issue for many Pennsylvanians, particularly in Latino communities.
This event in Berks County follows a similar gathering in Monroe County last month, where Casey met with the Latinos for Casey coalition and local leaders at the Viejo San Juan Latin Restaurant in East Stroudsburg. During that meeting, he highlighted his legislative achievements, including capping the cost of insulin through the Inflation Reduction Act, and reaffirmed his commitment to healthcare affordability.
As the election approaches, Senator Casey is expected to continue engaging with Pennsylvania’s diverse communities, ensuring that their voices are heard and their needs are addressed in his campaign for re-election.
