In the Mexican culture, we have what we call Día de los Muertos or Day of The Dead, on the 2nd of November. It is a time when we remember our family and friends who have passed by visiting and cleaning their gravesites or building altars with their photos and other items from their lives.
It is a wonderful way to honor our loved ones and spiritually connect with them and reflect on our own lives and what we must do to also remember the living.
After suffering the horrific number of deaths and ruined lives by this most god awful COVID virus we must look anew at some of the folks who made a bad situation worse because of their ignorance, politics, and lies.
Perhaps we can make it Night of Dumb, or The Night of the Big Lie, we have lost a lot of lives that we could have saved since January of 2020 by masking, keeping social distance, and when it became available taking the vaccine
We have been lied to by politicians, some of the media, religious leaders, and others. They told us it would soon go away as early as Easter of 2020. People have been told to take alternative remedies such Clorox, and now a deworming medicine meant for horses and cows.
Some have pushed rumors about what the current three authorized vaccines would do to your body, including making one sterile, or would insert a chip in you to control you, or that it was a political ploy to make some rich.
In the process because of this well-organized opposition, we have allowed COVID-19 to flourish, and its child called Delta to take the lives of way too many in recent months.
Thus, I think we might build towers of regret with the pictures of these dumb, lying misleading individuals, with their famous quotes which downplayed and misled the citizens and allowed many more to be killed and others seriously physically damaged and bankrupted so many. Billboards and internet ads should be developed so that everyone knows who allowed the virus and its children to spread and now also taking hold amongst the youth.
Yes, we need a night of the dumb and liars, and perhaps the colors should be red and black. Red for the pain and death caused and black for the darkness and end of life as we know it.
Right now, we are on the road to reaching 700,000 who will have died from COVID and thousands more suffering long-term debilitating effects.
ironically when these anti-vaccines end up in an ICU ward in some hospital somewhere. They do not question the procedures and medicines being administered by overworked, physically and emotionally exhausted staff. They and their loved ones allow any and everything to be used that might just save their lives. They do not protest these medical procedures as they protested the vaccine
We could have saved at least half or more of those lost if we had listened to the science and not the nonsense of lying and dumb individuals who continue to mislead some of the public.
Every life is precious, and we should not accept the inaction of our political leaders
Every hour someone’s loved ones is dying who could be saved.
Demand good leadership and good decisions bases on science.
