What we Need: Stronger windows and better locks on the doors

Vance’s worst response of the evening concerned gun violence. Stronger windows and better locks do not keep our children safe at school.

The debate was cordial for the most part, and Vance proved to be a better debater than Trump. Yet, he continued to spew so many lies that it felt like an echo chamber of Donald.

When backed into a corner, Vance danced around the issue and dragged in the border debate like the tortilla in a taco. In this case, the meat was undercooked and unsafe, just like the word salad he served up.

While some wished Walz had been stronger in the first half, many felt he came back stronger in the second. Walz scored points on the immigration bill that Trump killed, on healthcare, reproductive freedom, and democracy.

Vance had no defense for Trump regarding January 6th and the election loss. If he were to become Vice President, there would be no firewall between him and Trump’s dangerous ideas. As we know, Vance would have accepted alternate electors, but Mike Pence refused to do so and upheld democracy.

Like Trump, Vance blamed everything, including his potential hemorrhoids, on immigrants.

Some were waiting for Walz to bring the hammer down and mention «cat ladies» and the unfounded rumors of Haitians eating pets. Vance’s record of women is something he cannot escape, and it will haunt him forever.

Vance was a smooth talker, but not a truth-teller. As one person put it, he was using vanilla cake frosting to cover up animal droppings, trying to make them look and smell better.

Vance needed to knock out Walz, but he didn’t. It was a close debate, but I give the edge to Walz.

Some wanted Walz to be his usual entertaining self, but this wasn’t the stage for that. In the coming days, he will likely return to his old self—the person people trust.

Walz was instructed on what to say and advised to be cautious, avoiding any major mistakes.

Kamala Harris had humiliated Trump before, and the campaign wanted to remind the public of that. However, vice presidential debates don’t decide elections.

Both campaigns have limited time, and they need to make the most of every dollar, volunteer, and hour.
