Artistas y Musicos Latinoamericanos (AMLA) and the dance ensemble of Esperanza Academy Charter High School were among the performers at Philadelphia’s annual Welcome America Festival celebrating Independence Day. Esperanza College of Eastern University Media & Technology students taped AMLA’s Artistic Director Suzzette Ortiz and Rene Ginett as they gave a beautiful rendition of Latin Jazz favorites at the City Hall Courtyard stage. AMLA is in-residence at Esperanza Arts Center and provides music education for the Philadelphia’s Latino community. The 16-day annual Welcome America festival has been taking place for almost 30 years and culminates with a 4th of July Concert and Fireworks.
