After more than 10 years, the Philadelphia Housing Authority (PHA) will be accepting applications for Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV). This was formerly known as Section 8. As part of their “Opportunity Community” initiative, Esperanza Housing, in conjunction with PHA, will be assisting anyone needing help applying for the housing vouchers. They speak both Spanish and English.
Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program Description
The Housing Choice Voucher program, formerly known as Section 8, provides housing assistance to income-eligible families or individuals by paying of a portion of your rent to private property owners.
When HCV Applications Are Being Accepted
PHA is accepting applications From January 23 to February 5, 2023. Esperanza Housing is offering its Housing Counseling services to assist anyone who needs help applying.
The HCV is a Waiting List lottery
Applying does NOT guarantee that you will get on the HCV Waiting List. All applications that are completed and turned in during the application time will be entered into a lottery and a computer will randomly choose 10,000 of those who applied to put them on the Waiting List. Call and make an appointment with Esperanza for more details on the program or to get HCV application assistance.
