Each year, Esperanza Academy High School hosts an award ceremony to honor seniors from each major, top male and female athletes, and the valedictorian and salutatorian. It is a special time to celebrate the achievements of each of these students and thank them for their commitment to their school community these past four years. On April 21st, teachers, students, and families gathered at the Teatro at Esperanza Academy to celebrate select students from the Class of 2023.
Teachers take the time to prepare celebratory speeches about each student and then give their student the award. Students’ families were also in attendance for the event to see this momentous event for their children and join in on the festivities. In addition to the awards, one special student was given the unique Catherine Rossi scholarship for her university studies.
This is also the first year in the school’s history where there will be co-valedictorians! Reilly Colon and Alex Jaquez-Peralta’s GPA’s were so close that they mutually decided to share the position of valedictorian. The academy loves their desire to share the honor!
The event was interspersed by dynamic dances from the Esperanza Academy Dance Ensemble and an energetic performance from several seniors in the music major. The evening ended with a few tearful embraces as each senior gave a flower to an inspirational person throughout their high school career. All in all, it was a very special event!
