Over 160 members of the North Philadelphia community had the exclusive opportunity to view «The Forge» before its official release in theaters. This free Pre-Release Movie Screening took place on Saturday, July 20, at Teatro Esperanza.

Teatro Esperanza is a multi-space facility that showcases music, dance, theater, cinema, and visual arts of the highest caliber for audiences of all ages. The movie follows Isaiah Wright, a young man challenged to find purpose and direction through the guidance of his mother, a prayer warrior named Miss Clara, and biblical discipleship from a new mentor.

Created by the Kendrick Brothers, the masterminds behind the No. 1 hit «War Room,» «The Forge» promises to be a faith-filled journey of growth and discovery.

Reverend Luis Cortés, Jr., Founder, President, and CEO of Esperanza, provided welcoming remarks at the beginning of the event. Following the screening, a discussion was led by Rev. Rubén Ortiz, Director of Faith and Capacity Initiatives, and Rich Peluso, Executive Vice President of AFFIRM Films/AFFIRM Television. Attendees, including many notable pastors and community leaders, had the opportunity to share how «The Forge» inspired them to prioritize discipleship in their lives.

«This film is incredibly relevant in today’s society, highlighting how crucial discipleship is for the youth and our responsibility to support and believe in one another. At Esperanza, we see the themes of ‘The Forge’ reflected in our efforts to empower individuals by helping them develop critical skills and access needed resources. Our work is clear, our calling is clear: let’s change our communities and create opportunity communities from coast to coast,» said Reverend Luis Cortés, Jr.

Esperanza is proud to provide opportunities like this for our local community and beyond, fostering growth, inspiration, and unity through impactful events and initiatives.
